We run in-school, after-school, and summer programs to teach K-12 youth from Title I schools how to code, and help teachers acquire the knowledge and skills to teach computer science classes in their schools. Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Operations, the Finance  Manager will own management and oversight of all finance/accounting activities and support most human resources activities.

Responsibilities

Finance and Accounting

  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Director of Strategy & Operations; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.

  • Own all AR/AP functions to include preparing payments for approval and receiving payments for deposit. Own the collections process and follow up with past due customers.

  • Maintain Quickbooks accounts; handle bank reconciliations and posting transactions/journal entries; lead month end closing.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including board presentations.

  • Manage the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flow.

  • Prepare internal reports and financial forecasts for leadership to support decision making.

  • Assist with auditor requests such as providing official company forecasts, explaining key assumptions used in constructing forecasts, evidencing adherence to internal controls, etc.

  • Take lead on tax preparation process.

Human Resources

  • Further develop company’s human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training, and recruiting.

  • Oversee regular and off-cycle payroll. Own time/payroll allocation tracking.

  • Support all departments/programs in new employee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.

  • Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants.

  • Oversee administrative functions and facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations.

  • Execute performance review programs and maintain employee files.

  • Maintain employee privacy by keeping human resource information confidential.

Business Operations and Data

  • Support Director of Strategy & Operations with the annual strategic planning process.

  • Support 9 Dots programs with data collection, synthesis, and interpretation.

  • Assist with other business operations projects on an as needed basis.

Grant Support

  • Support the management of current and incoming grants with the fundraising team.

  • Produce financial reports to donors/grantmakers/partners.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA, CPA, or related degree.

  • At least 5 years experience in broad financial and operations management; nonprofit accounting experience a plus.

  • Quickbooks experience required.

  • Excellent Excel skills and an ability to build complex financial modelings.

  • Ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, as well as to implement and follow through.

  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Strong self-manager, solid executor, and proactive communicator.

  • The ideal candidate has experience with final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area, and has preferably overseen a human resources function previously.
